Herniated Disc Diagnostic Procedures

An MRI is always necessary and a CT scan when needed. In very rare situations like a far lateral disc, a discography may be necessary to image the painful disc. The discography can also help to show where the problems are located after contrast is injected into the disc and followed immediately with a CT scan.
Note: Sedation is used in all cases for painless and accurate placement of the needles.
Treatment Options for Herniated Discs

An endoscopic discectomy is performed on the herniated disc, whether in the central or foraminal canal. This treatment is the most “minimally invasive” approach (7-8 mm) tube to remove the herniation (disc fragment) pushing on the nerve.
