As an originator and author of many of the early peer-reviewed publications on spinal surgery practices, Dr. Mork stands out from other doctors. Aside from opening the Endoscopic Spinal Academy, and serving as the co-founder of Microspine, Dr. Mork is passionate about assisting individuals with prior failed fusions and back surgeries.

Dr. Mork has has received recognition not merely for his medical skills, but also for being a visionary in the area of laser back surgery. From performing over 8,000 operations himself, to creating many of the specific tools found in today’s current endoscopic spinal operation practices, he is constantly trying to enhance spinal treatment.

Dr. Mork has become an acknowledged expert in the emerging discipline of laser surgery. This area focuses on the use of incisions small incisions (no larger than one inch), better alternatives to general anesthesia, and mitigates the requirement of physical therapy. Doctor Mork believes that any decision to operate should be based on something more substantial than MRI findings. To that end, Dr. Mork takes a more holistic diagnostic approach. For some patients, spinal pain mapping is a more suitable approach for finding a diagnosis.

Dr. Mork has personally performed more than 8,000 endoscopic spinal surgeries.  He has also designed some of the specialized tools used in laser spine surgery and is constantly pursuing the improvement of spinal care.

Dr. Mork has been instrumental in developing some of the current endoscopic spinal surgery techniques.  He is one of the originators and wrote or co-authored 11 peer reviewed articles about the topic of endoscopic spine surgery techniques available today. He was the co-founder of Microspine and is a national instructor for Richard Wolf, the largest producer of endoscopic spine equipment in the world. While others copy his techniques, he is always moving forward.

Dr. Mork represents the future of endoscopic laser spine surgery.  He has even helped patients with prior failed spine surgeries and fusions.

Unlike most surgeons who operate based on just the MRI findings, Dr. Mork’s diagnostic method will determine exactly what your problem is so that it can be resolved,  thus minimizing guesswork.  It may not be enough to plan a spinal surgery on the MRI alone.  Spinal mapping may be very helpful to obtain the diagnosis.

Dr. Tony Mork operates a concierge practice, emphasizing education, the diagnosis, communication, first class care and cutting edge technology.  Dr. Mork is committed to his patients, their care and their desire to be pain free.

Other benefits include:

  • Surgery is performed as an outpatient in a hospital OR outpatient surgery center.
  • No Fusions
  • No expensive physical therapy is needed after surgery.
  • Incisions are ½ inch or less
  • Dr. Mork does all post-operative care personally.

Herniated Disc Surgery

By Tony Mork | August 15, 2019

What is Herniated Disc surgery?
Herniated disc surgery is performed for persistent pain, weakness or numbness. The pain or weakness must correspond to the nerve that is being pinched or compressed by the disc herniation and that is why a good history and examination is necessary to correlate these findings. Sometimes the disc can be herniated to the side opposite of your symptoms. This happens occasionally and I usually perform surgery on the side of the pain as long as the symptoms match the level of the disc herniation.
